Police Registration: 12-Hour Reporting Window Reaffirmed
Foreign nationals must register temporary residence within 12 hours of arrival at any private accommodation; hotels remain responsible for guest registration.
The Immigration Department has reaffirmed that all foreign nationals staying in private accommodation (rented apartments, friend's homes, Airbnb) must register their temporary residence at the local ward police station within 12 hours of arrival.
Failure to register may result in administrative fines ranging from VND 500,000 to VND 4,000,000 depending on circumstances and duration of non-registration. Repeat offenders may face entry restrictions on future visits.
Licensed hotels and serviced apartments handle registration automatically through the national online system. Long-term tenants are responsible for re-registration upon any change of address.
